Deal of the Week: Silencio’s $1M Pre-Seed

Silencio is a free application that aims to become the largest citizen science project in the world in order to combat noise pollution. The app allows users to share their surrounding sound level (dBA) and earn rewards for doing so.

Problem: The World Health Organization recently estimated that at least 1 million healthy life years are lost every year from traffic-related noise alone in Western Europe while the social cost of noise from road and rail across the EU has been valued at approximately +€40 billion per year.

Solution: Silencio aims to collect hyperlocal and real data from its users, which can then be commercialized for use in various industries, including real estate, the gastronomy and hotel industry, the well-being industry, the insurance industry, governments and city planners, and academic institutions.

Core Differentiation: The team has constructed a public noise pollution map showcasing all of its decentralized data.

Helius, a Solana developer platform, raised $9.5M in a round led by Foundation Capital with participation from Reciprocal Ventures, 6th Man Ventures, Chapter One, Propel, Balaji Srinivasan, Kyle Samani, Solana co-founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal, and others.

Citrea, a zero-knowledge rollup solution, raised $2.7M in a round led by Galaxy Ventures, with participation from Delphi Ventures; Eric Wall, co-founder of the Taproot Wizards NFT project; and Anurag Arjun, co-founder of data availability blockchain Avail.

Silencio, a German blockchain startup collecting noise pollution data, raised $1m in pre-seed funding led by Borderless Capital, with Moonrock Capital, Master Ventures, and others also participating.

Hack VC, a crypto asset-focused venture firm, raised $150M for its debut fund.
